Toast
At the moment
I wake as the day dawns
Before my ungodly alarm
Can drag me from sleep.
And it is such a pleasure
To eat toast in bed
And watch the light grow
Like a veil lifted
Over the valley.
Even if later
I find toast crumbs
In my sheets.
